About us

Objectives

To prevent any school drop outs and girl’s non attendance of school during their monthly periods and to provide equality within the learning environment so that those in need should not be isolated.

Background

The organisation started when two professional nurses who worked in the small community of Swartruggens under the Kgetlheng Sub District Municipality realised that the school learners in the community were dedicated to learning but some of the learners were without uniform. This two individuals chose not to turn a blind eye by giving back to the community through the most aspect of success ‘’education’’.

The nurses realised that even a mere pair of socks can make a difference in a disadvantaged learners life in order to encourage school attendance and completion of at least matric level so that the learners can better their lives by preventing early school
exiting due to lack of basic school uniform. Leaders of tomorrow was founded to focus on the need of school uniform.

Upon the school visits that were done while delivering school uniform for those learners that were identified as needy. It came
to the attention of the organization that they were girl learners that were missing school due to lack of  monthly sanitary pads
therefore the organization saw a feminine challenge that needed to be tackled therefore 84 days Feminine relief campaign was
established.

The organization also realised that most public schools within the community do not celebrate their learners in a form of Matric
farewells due to most learners not being able to afford the expenses that are related to that kind of occasion. We as an organisation realised the learners desire to attend their matric farewells hence Lefile Hope introduced Prom Day. This branch of the organization was introduced to instil confidence in
matriculants for their final exams and by helping them create good memories of school so that they are encouraged to study further.

Holistical care of the learner is of most importance to us as a organization hence we liaised with other stakeholders such as social workers, Priests, School Management teams, Community
leaders, School Governing Body, SAPS and the school health nurses within the community, in order to enhance the holistic needs of the learners because education is the key to success,
therefore we should contribute towards it as it is the beginning of all professions.
